Approximately every of us knows how difficult to avoid the great amount of propaganda while the any political election. There are some special groups of people who try to influence on the voting decisions of lots of citizens. Of course, some commercials, ads and posters may come from the candidates. But not everyone knows that such propaganda also can come from the people who take part in the special interest groups. And it is really important to distinguish the sources of these ads and commercials which are given by the different people, but with the similar goals.
Such groups are called special interest groups (SGIs). This is a group of people who have and share common intentions to change the existed policies regarding their shared concepts and concerns. For voters it is so important to know how the people form such groups influence on the political processes. Members from SGIs inform and educate the public of their government, who holds the power. Besides they also provide the pieces of information to the government officials in the attempt to impact the policies.
Among the most effective ways of influencing on policies there are money and donating time which are used for propaganda. But, of course, there are more other ways which are also so beneficial. For example, members from the SGIs use researches, litigation, lobbying and grassroots mobilization. Lobbying is the most popular way. It is the act of influencing the officials by the providing lawsuits, testimony and information.
Lots of organizations have their own lobbyists who visit the government and try to sway them to their candidate. Such special people have specific skills and expertise which help to convince the legislators to create new policies for the interest which they represent. Lobbyists from the organizations work a lot to make their information persuasive and solid, presenting the works and researches of the scholars who are the partners of lobbyists. One more form is litigation which brings the lawsuits. The brightest example was the Mc Nosky v. Perry case when two gays were fighting for the right to marry with each other. There will be an argument with the 5th Circuit Court of appeals on the line with other lawsuits. One more way is grassroots mobilization, which is believed to be the vocal and strong support with a great amount of people. It is really important to think about the amount of power that belongs to the special interest groups.
