How Deforestations Impact Forests and Woodlands

What is deforestation all about? Why is it so dangerous and harmful? Basically, this term describes the process of the permanent destruction of woodlands and indigenous forests. The latter ones cover 1/5 of the entire land, and they are quite important because their basic function is to provide people with a range of products used on a daily basis. Forests also provide people with other helpful ways, such as preventing unwanted soil erosion, offering dyes, drugs, and so on.

It’s obvious that the entire humanity depends on woodlands and forests, the survival of their healthy ecosystems, but deforestation is the process that causes a number of ecological, economic, and social issues that must be stopped and solved effectively. Many hectares of forests and woodlands are depleted on an annual basis, and 90% of this kind of clearing happens in tropical rainforests. If the current rate of their clearing won’t be reduced, all existing tropical rainforests will be lost by the humanity by 2050.

There are different reasons why deforestation happens, including ranching, commercial lodging, farming, and other causes. According to reports and studies, the population growth may also be responsible for clearing forests and woodlands because people need to get more space for their houses, agriculture, roads, cattle ranching, different industries, etc. For example, commercial lodging is responsible for destroying a big part of tropical forests.

The increasing demands for fuel as wood because the population keeps expanding is another vital factor that results in deforestation. When it comes to the most developing regions, wood is their main fuel source, and many of these areas have a rising demand for it because of growing population rates and other factors. For instance, 1/3 of all people who live in the world depend on woo as their fuel and an energy source.

In addition, tropical forests cover 10% of the dry land surface, and most of them can be found in Asia and South America. Forests and woodlands are very important for people and the environment because they produce oxygen and use carbon dioxide. They provide the necessary food and shelter to different animals and plants too, and that’s why the process of deforestation should be stopped. Otherwise, many ecosystems will be destroyed completely, thus causing a lot of harm.
