Great Expectations is a brilliant novel by Dickens
The story was written in 1860 during the Victorian era that lasted from the coronation in 1837 until her death in 1901. The specificity of Mid-Victorian England is very important. At that time, such things as integrity, respectability and a sense of public duty really made a difference. The period of the novel was a time of modification. The economy was changing. England was on its way to become a wealthy world power. However, people was still living in horrible conditions and children had to work for twelve hours a day.
Many critics say that Great Expectations is the greatest Charles Dickens’ novel. It is much more complicated than his other novels but at the same time it is quiet easy to read. The novel was brilliantly written and there are a lot of fantastic scenes and well-written characters. By the way, Dickens wanted to please his readers and changed the ending of the novel to a happy one. The different ending has become one of the most debatable points for critics and readers. However, the happy ending brought Dickens a big success.

Great Expectations tells us the story of Pip. Pip is an orphan who follows on his way to wealth. During this way, he treats his friends and becomes too arrogant.
