The Comparison between Japan and Thailand

Thailand and Japan are situated in the A.A.P region. Thailand has a tropical climate, whereas Japan has a diverse climate. The population of Japan is twice the size of Thailand's.

There are many things that Japanese and Thai people have in common, but, generally, their cultures differ significantly.

The most popular kind of sports in Thailand is football. There are lots of football teams of pro and Thai league in this country. Thai people often watch pro soccer in England and that what they call Premiership league. Muay Thai is one of the most popular traditional Thai sports. It is kind of the Thai style of the boxing. Since it is extremely popular in Thailand, it has become one of the businesses. Takraw is another popular kind of sports in Thailand. It is extremely popular in South East Asia and similar to volleyball, but players use their feet to play as well as other all part of the body, except for hands.

As for Japan, the most of the popular sports came from the past, when samurai practiced their skill by playing Koryu. Today, Japanese people follow the tradition using Samurai styles. The popular kinds of sports in Japan include Judo and Sumo. Judo has a long history and requires people to use various skills to fight each other. It has become a popular kind of sport all over the world, and one sports in Olympic. Sumo also has a long history and involves very fat men to fight each other.

Football and baseball were expanded in Japan during Meiji period and both games today are very popular in Japan.

The largest part of the population in Thailand are Buddhists (95%). Theravada religion is intensively supported by the government. Almost of all Thai people believe in nature and spirit. That is why most of them build for spirit a small house additionally to their big houses.

Most people in Japan are not religious. Usually, they do not believe in the god, do not do special worship or other things showing the respect for the god. Still, many religious came from ancient Japan.

All in all, the sports and religion of Japan and Thailand have similarities and differences. Both countries have different religions. In Japan, the most important religion is Shinto, but in Thailand, it is Theravada Buddhism. Unlike Thai people who are very religious, Japan people do not usually believe in gods.

As for the similarities between these countries, both of them protect their own ancient sports, have a long history of them, and they tend to develop fighting kinds of sports.
