The Ideology of Ra

For students fond of the ideology of Ra, the main thing that should be known is that this god was in the center of ancient Egyptian culture. Just like other ancient cultures, this one had the main god, and people believed that he was the one who created the whole world. This kind of belief structured the whole political and religious doctrine, and the entire culture was successful and unified with it.

Basically, this belief in the god of the sun started from small cults in Helipolis located just a few miles away of Cairo. The main ideology of Ra explains to all followers the phenomena of creation and nature, and it became quite popular and widespread in Egypt very fast. This god is represented and well-known for a number of things. When it comes to his human form, people call Ra as Atum who wears white and red crowns that symbolize different parts of Egypt in addition to the unification of his ruling.

Another detail is that Ra is also famous as the sacred beetle called Khepra because ancient Egyptians associated the beetle with this god as they saw it coming from the ground. Moreover, they believed that beetles were self-created. Other depictions of this god show him as a unique man with the head of the falcon with the solar disc headed by a cobra, and all of the above-mentioned versions of Ra actually united the very same myth that governed the entire country at that time.

This myth begins in the morning when Ra is supposed to rise from mountains and start sailing across the sky in the boat of many years. Some people believe that this god was born anew during the sunrise and he was aging as the day progressed. At the midday, Ra becomes a hero, while at the sunset he turns into an old man. He also has 2 boats: the first one is Manject that the sails across the day, and the second one that sails Ra through the underworld when needed. Other gods involved in the religion of ancient Egyptians were supposed to travel with him during such voyages.

In conclusion, before Ra begat other Egyptian gods, he used to exist alone in the watery mass of Nun that filled up the entire Universe. Then he had a sexual union with himself to give birth to Shu and Tefnut, the god of the air and the goddess of moister. These gods also created Geb and some others involved in the culture and ideology of ancient Egyptians. To study different concepts involved in the ideology of Ra, students should read many relevant myths and paint a vivid picture of his ruling.

For students fond of the ideology of Ra, the main thing that should be known is that this god was in the center of ancient Egyptian culture. Just like other ancient cultures, this one had the main god, and people believed that he was the one who created the whole world.
