The Best Cartier – Explorer Essay

The first fact that should be known about Cartier is that he was a talented French mariner famous for his many voyages to Canada. Besides, his trips and searches were greatly supported by the king of France, and his main mission was finding a suitable north-west passage to China in addition to the creation of some direct route to spices and gold and opening traffic for multiple gold inhabitants.

The personal motifs of Cartier were similar to the ones of Columbus, including his glory, power, and gold. He got along quite well with local Indians, thus building good and strong French-Indian connections, and his exploration were the main foundation of French claims on Canada. Although France claimed this territory, it wasn’t capable of making any mercantile gain because the establishment of colonies wouldn’t hold and they ended up being not really effective.

The life of Jacques Cartier deserves your close attention, including his interactions with Native Indians, failures and discoveries, actions for the nation that he was exploring for, and so on. This man had a major crisis during his journeys, but he managed to deal with it effectively. There aren’t many facts known about Cartier’s backgrounds, people only know that he was born in France and he liked Native Americans a lot. The main reason is that the ones he met on his first trip were quite friendly to him. When he was first met by Indians on their canoes, they greeted him with friendly words.

In his second trip, Cartier also met Indians belonging to Huron who lived near modern Quebec, and native inhabitants asked him to stop sailing west, and some of them even dressed up as devils to scare him off, but he only laughed at them. In other Huron villages, Cartier saw many festivities and he took part in some of them. This is when he heard about the sacred land that had a lot of gold and precious jewels. Unfortunately, he decided to kidnap the man who told this story and his sons to get there, and Cartier finally succeeded to find this land that was rich with iron and quarts.

In conclusion, the journeys of Cartier affected his native country in a number of ways so that his influence and importance can’t be denied. He didn’t supported conflicts with Native Americans and he wanted to avoid all possible accidents and hostilities while establishing different trading sessions and looking for valuable minerals, regardless of sharp cultural differences.
