Secondary Airports Effective in India

Today, the civil aviation market of India is the fastest growing in the world. After a careful consideration of the reasons for the growth of air travel undertaken by Indian airlines, we can draw some conclusions regarding the further development of the service in both the public and private airports in India.

The growth of the domestic aviation market was facilitated by such factors as the increase of personal incomes, a decline in fuel prices, the development of tourism, and simplification of visa regime. According to estimates of the Federation of Indian chambers of Commerce and Industry, if the Indian market continues to evolve at the same pace, by 2020 it will become the third largest in the world, and by 2030 it could reach the top position.

The Indian aviation market has demonstrated resilience to the global economic downturn thanks to the growing economy, competition among airlines, particularly among low-cost one, the construction or modernization of national airports, the use of new technologies, foreign direct investment, and the development of regional airline service. As noted by the experts, the growth of passenger traffic in the 2015-2016 amounted to more than 17 percent. Thus, the whole year passenger traffic amounted to 180 million passengers. It is expected that by 2020 it will rise to 370 million passengers, with 80% of the national air traffic. The air transportation connects most major cities in India. Domestic air travel involves dozens of companies, the largest of which are Air Deccan, Air India, Jet Airways, IndiGo and Kingfisher Airlines.

India, being the ninth-largest market for airlines in the world, has announced a new aviation policy that is likely to cause rejoicing among foreign companies. Now new market participants will be able to compete with the better-known and old carriers. In addition, the new rules relax the requirement for airlines that fly on international routes and provide considerable expansion of domestic flights over the next three years. Now an airline company needs to have 20 planes or use 20 % of the total power of the airlines that they could fly outside of the country.

Innovation can also attract more foreign air carriers into the market, which will make the Indian market the fastest growing of the major aviation markets in the world.
