Albert Einstein was born on March 14 of 1879 in Württemberg, Germany. About two months later, his family moved to Munich, where later Einstein started to study at the Luitpold Gymnasium. When his family moved to Italy, the boy continued his education at Aarau, Switzerland. In 1896, the future scientist started to study at the Swiss Federal Polytechnic School to become a teacher in physics and mathematics and in 1901 he obtained his diploma. He could not find a teaching post so became a technical assistant in the Swiss Patent Office. His doctor's degree Einstein obtained in 1905.
He did much of his remarkable work during staying at the Patent Office. In 1908, Einstein was appointed Privatdozent. A year later, he became Professor Extraordinary, and in 1911 Professor of Theoretical Physics. In 1914, Einstein was appointed Director of the Kaiser Wilhelm Physical Institute as well as Professor at the University of Berlin. He obtained his German citizenship in 1914 and stayed in Berlin until 1933 when he had to immigrate to America to accept the position of Professor of Theoretical Physics. In 1945, he retired from his post.
After World War II, Einstein collaborated with Dr. Chaim Weizmann in establishing the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
Einstein always had a clear view of the problems of physics and had his own strategy that helped him to reach his goals.
In 1916, Einstein published the paper on the general theory of relativity. He also contributed to the problem of the theory of statistical mechanics and radiation.
In the 1920's, the scientist started the construction of unified field theories, although being working on the probabilistic interpretation of quantum theory. He developed the quantum theory of a monatomic gas, which contributed to statistical mechanics. Einstein also accomplished valuable work related to atomic relativistic cosmology and transition probabilities.
After his retirement, Einstein kept working towards the unification of the basic concepts of physics, using geometrisation approach.
Einstein's most important works include Special Theory of Relativity, General Theory of Relativity, Investigations on Theory of Brownian Movement, Relativity, The Evolution of Physics and others. There are also non-scientific valuable works of Einstein, including My Philosophy, Why War?, About Zionism, Out of My Later Years and others.
In 1903, the scientist married Mileva Maric and they had two sons and one daughter. His marriage was dissolved in 1919 and he married his cousin. Albert Einstein died on April 18, 1955, in New Jersey.
