For many people, disappointment is associated with a number of uncomfortable emotions. It’s quite complex and contains a subset of different feelings, including sadness, anger, and pain. Sometimes, these feelings are easy to deal with, but disappointment may leave people at a loose end. The main reason is that they are unsure if they should feel angry or do their best to get over these negative emotions. Disappointment may hover in many thoughts and bring a grey perspective in their lives, even if they want to forget about that.
In this essay, I want to share my personal story about pain in disappointment and effective ways to overcome it. This story starts when I’ve just finished my high schools. I must say that some of the most remarkable experiences that I have are quite recent. For example, I had a number of great opportunities to become involved in academics and athletics, but I decided to take part in such sports activities as tracking, football, and basketball.
As one of the team members, I managed to learn a number of valuable life lessons that helped my progress and become a better person. There is one experience that I’ll never forget because it’s connected with the right management of pain in disappointment, and it’s all about one football game. Football is my favorite sport to play, and I have always liked it.
For example, I adored the feeling of being capable to hit other people while catching passes in the field because this experience provided me with a lot of exciting rush. Personally, I have tried playing almost all of the existing football positions, and 2 new ones were in my senior year. While studying in my high school, football was not just some sport for me because it requires a lot of commitment, strength, and time.
My football coach has committed his entire life to this activity, and he taught me a lot about respect and the idea that winning is not everything in this game. I still use his tips and hints when I need them the most. His concern and care helped me overcome pain in disappointment when I lost one very important football game. He did his best to prepare me and other team members for this game so that we knew all possible plays backward and forward. We also were physically ready and emotionally pumped to win, but this game changed my life forever. The main reason is that we lost so that my football career was over forever, and I had to overcome a lot of pain.
