The Obesity Epidemic Essay

All people know that obesity is bad and it affects all regions and social classes. In the US, both adults and children suffer from this widespread health problem that becomes a real epidemic these days. The worst part is that most patients also have to deal with negative emotional and health effects of being obese. However, the most effective solution to this health problem is quite simple because people need to take in fewer calories on a daily basis while enhancing their calorie-burning process with regular workouts.

Basically, the regulation of food consumption by the body is quite a complex biological process created to promote people’s survival and food intake. Such important body organs as intestines, stomach, pancreas, and fat send key signals to the brain, and they are responsible for triggering hunger and forcing people to eat more. White eating, these signals tell the brain when they are full and when to stop eating, and this system is called homeostatic. It’s responsible for making human beings get hungry at regular intervals without getting hungry at night while sleeping.

The so-called reward system is responsible for promoting their food intake. For example, when people smell or see tasty food, this experience may trigger their desire to eat, regardless of whether they are hungry or not. According to the latest studies, those patients who suffer from obesity have less ability to resist their food cues. There are other basic factors that contribute to this process, including regular stress, low blood sugar levels, and so on. The worst part is that trying to eat less can increase appetite and regulating signals. When people start losing weight, their satiety is often reduced while their appetite is increased considerably.

In addition to important biological factors that regulate people’s weight, there are certain societal aspects that also come into play. Healthy dining can be a true challenge for many people, even if they are quite disciplined. To lose weight and improve health, people should refuse from huge portions, sugary drinks, red meat, refined grains, unhealthy fats, and so on. It’s always better to consume more whole grains, fresh vegetables, fruits, nuts, etc. Dieters should also avoid common obesity triggers, such as the reduced physical demands of most jobs and increased availability of affordable and unhealthy food products.

All people know that obesity is bad and it affects all regions and social classes. In the US, both adults and children suffer from this widespread health problem that becomes a real epidemic these days. The worst part is that most patients also have to deal with negative emotional and health effects of being obese.
