Life of Andrew Jackson

Andrew Jackson was the seventh US president. He was born on March 15, 1767 in the village in South Carolina. His father was an Irishman, who moved to U.S. with his wife, in search of a better life. Shortly before the birth of Jackson, his father died.

Young Andrew Jackson was the only one among his brothers, who was able to get a basic school education – he was going to become a priest. He couldn’t finish his studies, because the War for Independence started.

Andrew and his elder brother Robert went to the front, where in one of the battles they were captured. Both received serious head injuries, which was the cause of Robert’s death a few months later. After being released from captivity, his mother died.

Perhaps terrible changes that occurred to him, forced him to radically change his life. He moved to Salisbury to study for a lawyer in one of the most prestigious educational institutions. After the studies, Andrew was appointed on the post of district attorney in the territory, which later became known as Tennessee.

In 1796, Andrew became a delegate to the state constitutional convention. Once Tennessee was accepted into the states, he went to Washington, to Congress, as the first deputy of the state. In 1797, he became one of two senators from Tennessee. But then, after not having received the mandate, he resigns and becomes a judge of the Supreme Court of his state, having worked there until 1804.

The war against Great Britain, which lasted from 1812 to 1815, played a very important role in Jackson’s political career. Jackson’s first campaign was the war in the territory south of Tennessee against the rebellious Indians, which were supported by the British and Spaniards. He suppressed the uprising, concluding the strictest peace treaty, under which the Americans battered large areas in the south. During his campaign, Jackson went far to the south, down to New Orleans, where he defeated the British army. After this victory, Jackson has proven himself very well.

Jackson took part in the presidential elections in 1824. Jackson received the most votes. But, despite this, the president had to be chosen by the House of Representatives, since none of the candidates won the election board in the desired absolute maximum. Adams became president. Jackson felt cheated.

Jackson decided to challenge Adams in the presidential election in 1828. Jackson made one of the first trips of the election campaign, visiting places near New Orleans.

In those elections, Jackson won an unambiguous victory. Andrew Jackson took this position for two terms until 1837.
