Dr. Kervorkian Supports Euthanasia

Before going deeper into this subject, you need to understand that euthanasia is the practice or act of painlessly putting to death those people who keep suffering from incurable or painful medical conditions. Nowadays, there are many debates and arguments about whether this practice is wrong or rights in its moral and legal senses. It’s true that both parties involved make strong statements to support their opinions, and they all seem valid.

The modern advancements in medicine bring many seriously sick people into hospitals where their lives can be prolonged for quite a long time. However, some of them don’t want to prolong their pain and suffering, and this decision is not private any longer because it’s a matter of doctors, patients, nurses, etc. In most systems and countries, there are no specific provisions for euthanasia so that this act is considered a suicide (when done by patients themselves) or a murder (when doctors help them).

Some doctors may legally decide to stop prolonging the lives of their patients if they are in extreme suffering or pain. That’s why they administer special drugs to relieve pain and shorten the lives of these people. In some European countries, there are certain provision in criminal codes for considering extenuating circumstances and lenient sentencing in terms of prosecuting euthanasia.

Perhaps, Dr. Kevorkian is one of the most famous names when it comes to this controversial subject. That’s because he is a medical professional who openly supports it, but the most prominent fact is that he’s been in and out of jails and courts for being responsible for the deaths of more than 50 patients who were in his care at the time of their deaths. Some media sources even called him a suicide machine for this reason, while others believed that he was just helping these people.

It’s obvious that no one thinks that this doctor wanted to kill his patients, but his case raised a number of ethical and relevant questions, including a doubt whether doctors and patients have the right to decide when it’s their time to die. Actually, an opinion that euthanasia is something morally permissible was discussed by such famous philosophers as Plato, Socrates, and others. Dr. Kevorkian performed assisted suicides to help people stop their pain and suffering because they didn’t see any other way out. The general public still has different views on this subject.

Was competitively priced, worked with my very short deadline- I am sure she would have done an even better job if I would have given her more than a few hours to complete the assignment.
