Today, it is not a surprise for anyone that no punishments or penalties do a good job when it comes to decreasing a crime level. The motives of the criminals to commit ill-considered actions seem to overrule their understanding of the consequences that are to follow. For one to come up with ultimate methods of controlling crime it requires a deep and thorough study of why those crimes occur in the first place. It is often not enough to just understand the problem from the law perspective, as the grounds of any crime are linked with a number of other social phenomena.
Controlling a crime starts with an attempt to prevent it from happening. When studying the nature of criminal offenses, one can often notice that the majority of the criminals come from poor family backgrounds and rarely have any education. Thus, at the very beginning, the government needs to ensure that its country’s welfare is strong enough to satisfy its citizens with basic livelihood needs (food, housing, education, etc.)
Out of the interesting experiences of controlling crimes worldwide, some countries, for example, offer its citizens financial benefits and remunerations for good behavior and no criminal history. Yet, the most common policy all around the globe is concerned with the provision of sufficient and strong law enforcement authorities. This not only includes police and custody officers, but also investigative departments and bureaus of justice statistics. Those above are responsible for prevention and managing proceeding related to all levels of crime. The major problem is, in some communities law enforcement bodies do not get enough financial support to maintain a sufficient level of work. Thus, the problem of a high criminal level in those communities indirectly goes back to government and high-level authorities.
As for today, we owe an enormous development of criminal propaganda to social media and information channels. Violence goes viral and invokes more and more people to engage in it. This goes not only for extremist groups but also for a number of white collar crimes that usually take place online. This means law enforcement bodies need to be progressive and tech savvy in order to spot crimes that occur or are planned online.
Last, but definitely not least, police needs to fight violence with as little violence as it is possible. This includes conducting prior analysis and studies that are to help to decrease a crime level without hurting innocent people.
Today, it is not a surprise for anyone that no punishments or penalties do a good job when it comes to decreasing a crime level. The motives of the criminals to commit ill-considered actions seem to overrule their understanding of the consequences that are to follow.
