Accomplishments and Defeats of General Napoleon Bonaparte : the story of man of genius

Napoleon Bonaparte is an outstanding personality who left an indelible mark in the world history. His fate was a real shock for his contemporaries, and military operations conducted under his leadership were included into many textbooks on military art. Western countries still base their civil rules of democracy on The Napoleonic Code.

During his military career and political activities, Napoleon won triumphal victories and had crushing defeats, but in the first and second cases, he was able to remain a great and exceptional leader of the nation. The most prominent are his victories at the beginning of his military career. Appointed an artillery commander of the army besieging Toulon occupied by the British, Bonaparte carries out a brilliant military operation. Then he distinguishes himself by a crackdown of royalist rebellion in Paris (1795) and receives the appointment of a commander of the Italian Army. In the Italian campaign (1796-97) a military genius of Napoleon manifests in all its brilliance. Feeble, poorly armed, but incredibly inspired by revolutionary ideas, Napoleon's army triumphantly marches through the Austrian possessions. A victorious campaign through the Alps and a triumph in the battle of Marengo ensure the security of the French borders. Then goes the victory of Austerlitz, Ian, Fried land, and so on. As a result, Belgium, Holland, Northern Germany, some areas of Italy are the parts of France. In the rest of Italy, in the heart of Europe and in Spain Napoleon creates independent Kingdoms ruled by members of his family.

Fortune favours Bonaparte in the economic, administrative and political affairs. A number of reforms strengthen France and Napoleonic innovations form the basis for the functioning of today states. Despite the fact that Napoleon is the Savior of the Fatherland, the wars have caused a national revival and French victories arise a sense of pride; the people of France are tired of war, which lasted for about 20 years. The disaffected population, the intrigues and the envy for the dynasty on the part of the bourgeoisie, plus the economic crisis of 1810 marked the beginning of the end of the Napoleonic era. After the abdication, he is trying to restore power and he has another 100 days to rule the Empire. The final defeat of Napoleon takes place at Waterloo.

However, these defeats failed to overshadow the genius of Napoleon, which is admired until now. It is his originality, the talent of diplomat and artist, the ability to lead people, charm and sharp mind made him a great Emperor, and subsequently a dignified prisoner of the island of St. Helena.

Napoleon Bonaparte is an outstanding personality who left an indelible mark in the world history. His fate was a real shock for his contemporaries, and military operations conducted under his leadership were included into many textbooks on military art.
