Feminist Theories and Misconceptions

While most of the early feminist theorists have focused on issues of gender inequality, one of the hallmarks of contemporary theory became a powerful interest in aspects of oppression. Most modern feminists to some extent share the theory of oppression, and many of the most productive and innovative developments in the field of feminism belong to this particular group of theorists.

Today’s proponents of psychoanalytic feminism explain patriarchy, reformulating the theory of Freud and his followers. Representatives of this direction follow specific patterns of patriarchy. Like all supporters of the theory of oppression, it is recognized by them as a system of subordination of women by men, as a universal system covering the whole social organization that sustainably exists in time and space and withstands occasional encountered difficulties. However, the main feature of psychoanalytic feminism is the notion that all men in their daily practice constantly insist and maintain the system of patriarchy. Women rarely have resistance, but more often they are going to make concessions, or do anything to be in submission. Riddle, which is trying to be solves by the feminist psychoanalytic sense, is why men tirelessly spend a lot of energy to maintain the system of patriarchy and why women do not resist it.

Radical feminism is based on two emotional statements. One is that women have an absolute positive value by themselves. This statement is put forward as opposition devaluing the role of women. The second one inhibits women – it is the system of patriarchy. Relying on its main ideological positions, radical feminists have developed a theory of social organization, gender oppression and change strategies.

There are many misconceptions about feminism, like feminists are evil women, which is not true as feminists want equality and they have the right to become emotional because of sex discrimination, women’s rights. and domestic violence.

The other misconception is that being a feminist is fashionable. Many celebrities have supported feminism and consider equality issues important, but this does not mean that the movement has become fashionable.

One of the most popular misconceptions is that feminists are lesbians. Feminists are ordinary women from different backgrounds, culture, religion, etc. Defending their rights has nothing to do with sexual orientation.

You can also hear that feminists cannot be feminine. Feminism stands for freedom of choice, regardless of gender. They won’t fight with a man for the right to open the door first. They simply select different views on life.
