The Holocaust Survivor Elie Wiesel

Night is a really terrifying novel written by Elie Wiesel, the author who won the Nobel Prize. Basically, its plot is about the awful year he had to spend suffering, starving, and dying in concentration camps, and it happened in WWII. All readers will be taken on this emotionally scary journey through his life events, multiple deaths, a lot of pain, etc. This book depicts one of the most personal novels where the author conveys a range of images, emotions, and ideas to the targeted audience.

This famous writer was born and grew up in Sighet, but his entire family was taken away and placed in different concentration camps when he was only 15 years old. When he left his last camp (Buchenwald), Elie decided to observe the oath of silence. He relocated to the US in 1956, but this is where he was hit by a taxicab so that he had to spend 1 year in a wheelchair. His early life was full of tragic events, but they helped him become a talented author and great personality.

Basically, Sighet was a Jewish town and his father was liked by most of its citizens. It’s worth mentioning that his family believed in Jewish traditions. When the war started, everyone rumored about the holocaust, including Elie’s good friends, relatives, and neighbors, but they never believed that it could be real. One day, they were called to an important meeting about the war when people found out that they had to relocate to a special ghetto near their town.

This ghetto was 2 separate sections, and the good news is that his family got into a better one so that they felt happy, and this place wasn’t so horrible to live in. Well, their lives were pretty normal at that time because people were able to come and go when they wanted. One day, Elie and his relatives found out that the families in houses located in the other ghetto section were evacuated for some unknown reason. They were loaded onto trains so that they didn’t hear about them never again. Perhaps, this is when local inhabitants started to realize that they were in a big trouble.

Then German troops forced the rest of people living in the ghetto, including Elie and his family, to pack their possessions and live in the other section. The whole situation was becoming only worse with every passing day until the true horror started when people had to repeat the destiny of the first group. There are many tragic events and experiences described in Night, and the worst part is that they happened in the reality.
