Symbolism - A Door Into Understanding the world

It is not always possible to express in words all that we feel. There are things, states, events, which are impossible to explain or define.

The man carries the particles of several-hundred-old human experience that embody a variety of meanings, feelings and mysteries. The spiritual culture of the mankind conserves the priceless knowledge about man, nature and the Universe, the great ideas and creations of the humans, backed by a long chain of events, causes and effects.

For centuries, every time when a person needed to grasp the immensity, to connect the visible and the invisible, to tie together the past, present and future, a brand new and truly ancient he used the language of symbols.

The man needed symbols whenever he sought to reach new heights or he had to overcome the boundaries of life and death, space and time and to comprehend the eternal laws of existence. People resorted to the wonderful language of symbols every time when they lacked words to express or explain various notions.

Symbols are the universal language of Nature, of God and Man. From the Greek "symbol" is translated as "to bind, to connect the disparate parts." Originally, the symbol always represented the subject, divided into two parts. Thus, two people used to keep one of the parts, for example, money lender and debtor, the host and the guest, two pilgrims, two lovers or siblings. When they met again they joined the two parts of the symbol into one in such a manner reaffirming their love, friendship, the bonds of hospitality, or debt of honor. For the ancient Greeks, the symbol was always a sign of recognition, thanks to it, if separated parents could recognize their kids. A symbol separates and re-unites. It contains simultaneously two ideas: absence and new appointments. A symbol comprises two halves of a whole: external image - the image of the character and internal sense, which is multifaceted. The symbol is the language that connects the visible and the invisible, Heaven and Earth, the sacred and the secular.

At different stages of life, a symbol is revealed in different ways as the book that we reread at different times of life. The ancients believed that the symbol is the door to the real world. It reveals the hidden meaning of life and expresses the wisdom of thousands of years. This is an opportunity to see the hidden, secret side of life and the entire universe, and our inner world. This is an opportunity based on the ancient universal traditions to make life more full and deep.
