The Communist Manifesto of Marx and Engle

The Communist Manifesto is the work of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, in which they declare and justify the goals, objectives and methods of struggle of the nascent communist organizations and parties.

This important Marxist treatise states that the entire previous history of mankind is the history of class struggles. The authors proclaim the inevitability of the collapse of capitalism at the hands of the proletariat, which is to build a classless communist society with public ownership of the means of production.

In the Communist Manifesto, Marx and Engels set out their vision of the laws of social development and the inevitability of change of production methods. An important place in the Manifesto is given to a critical review of the various non-Marxist theories of socialism and reactionary pseudo-socialist teachings. For example, the utopian rude and crude communism of those who simply spread the principle of private ownership to everyone is strictly criticized. In addition, the Manifesto states that the Communists as the most resolute part of the proletariat are not a distinct party countered to other working-class parties and they support every revolutionary movement against the existing social and political order, as well as they seek the union and agreement between the democratic parties of all countries.

The manifesto begins with the words that a specter is haunting Europe, the specter of communism and all the states of old Europe united to exorcise this specter.

The Manifesto was first published on February 21, 1848 in London. It was reprinted many times, including during the life of the authors, but no changes were made.

A new surge of interest in the work of Marx and Engels is observed in the 21st century. In 2012, a new English edition of the Manifesto with a foreword by the leading Marxist historian Eric Hobsbawm was prepared. Since 2010, the Canadian Academic Publishing House Red Quill Books, specializing in the presentation of classical radical texts in the form of comics or manga, published the Communist Manifesto Illustrated in four parts of the comic book.

Some of the objectives outlined in the Manifesto, have already been implemented in several countries, for example: free public education and the prohibition of child labor; progressive tax system.

Other goals were not met. For example: overcoming the alienation of labor and human relations; overcoming the minority dictatorship (the ruling classes) over the majority (the proletariat); destruction of the state as an instrument of violence in the hands of the ruling class.
