Let’s talk about filters of perception

Have you ever heard of so-called perception filters? They normally kick in when talking about seeing the world via rose-tinted glasses. Yes, we’re currently talking exactly about this. What does it mean? Well, it stands for seeing only the positive things, while ignoring real issues around you.

Rose-tinted glasses enable us to filter out all incoming downbeat information. Obviously, they work just like a water filter, letting water in while sitting out any heavy chemical elements.

By the way, rose-tinted glasses have their own opposition. Sure these are grey-tinted glasses, representing apathy. So, they let in only gloomy information while leaving any good stuff unnoticed. Somebody wearing grey-tinted glasses boasts a tiny chance of experiencing joy. Such folks are capable of seeing only a cheerless world around them. They only see the gloomiest future ever, and their present is absolutely unbearable.

Every person boasts her or his own set of various colored spectacles, so they are changed intermittently depending on the conditions where the person finds himself. These filters generate a variety of problems in our everyday life, they narrow our perception, they limit our consciousness and they’re even capable of keeping us in rather a negative emotional state for a long time.

Perception filters drastically distort the truth

Perhaps, you’ve already heard of so-called blinkers and prisms via which, some folks are used to perceiving the world.

Any information regarding events happening around us goes through prisms specific to every person. The given information gets distorted by the time before it gets to the mind. So, there’s no wonder different folks evaluate the same event or situation in different ways, even although they’re viewing it at the same time. Every person boasts his own unique opinion as well as emotional reaction to the same event.

Let’s consider a particular scenario. Well, a supervisor has just called in an employee over a misdemeanour, thus intending to remain calm and to explain clearly the issue. Instead, this guy loses his temper and starts shouting.

Apparently, the employee is afraid of the possibility of getting fired. Perhaps, we can assume that the only reason the employee is afraid is that danger of losing his job.

To figure this out let’s consider how five different folks in this same situation would react to an angry supervisor shouting and trying to dismiss them from the job. We require asking each of them what they’re actually feeling. Of course, every person will give his own picture of the world, we’ll have five versions to choose from.
