When it comes to the American Revolution, it’s associated with many changes within this independent and new nation, including social, economic, and political. Basically, American leaders succeeded to form the main concepts of the ideal society. It seemed to them that such ideals would help them be different from the British corrupt government, but it turned into the one that was more centralized.
Unfortunately, uneducated people in the US didn’t experience many changes, though revolutionary ideas pushed them to see economic prosperity. For women and slaves, the society changes because all slaves were set free and women gained their freedoms and rights. People also experienced many changes in politics, social matters, and economic aspects.
Politically, American leaders wanted their new country to be less similar to Britain, and that’s why they ratified their ideas into the Articles of the Confederation, but their dream of the good government turned into a real nightmare. Federal and state governments hadn’t any authority to tax people and do other things, and this is what led to many unwanted issues. As an example, there was a severe civil unrest within different US regions, and the government wasn’t strong enough to guarantee stability and suppress rebellions. That’s why founders understood that they needed the more centralized government so that they decided to draft the constitution, and this is when many interesting ideas were proposed, including balances and checks. This means that checks on people and the government were needed to ensure the functional society. Another important thing is that the US government also needed effective measures to control itself.
Americans didn’t experience many changes in their economic sphere. There was some form of encouragement and promoting the idea that their country is filled with enough freedom, fertility, and abundance. Don’t forget about the ideal of agrarian republicanism. If you’re interested in social changes caused by the American Revolution, you should understand that the lives of white people remained almost the same, but the lives of women and slaves changed considerably. For women, it was the beginning of recognizing their gender equality, and everything changed for slaves. Keep in mind that the ideas of universal freedom started to show themselves at that time. Slaves were counted as people, not simple objects owned by others.
