Concepts of Personal Hygiene

Personal hygiene is an important element of the health of each individual and society as a whole. Without observing the simple rules of behavior in our daily lives and activities you cannot stay healthy, prolong and improve quality of life and prevent the emergence of many different diseases.

Skills of personal hygiene are traditional, appeared since the appearance of humanity and expanded with the development of society. This is a set of general hygiene requirements and standards for people of any age and occupation: the regular alternation of mental and physical labor; physical training; balanced diet; body care (oral, hands, skin, nails, hair); healthy sleep; selection of clothing, appropriate to weather conditions; keeping home and workplace clean; use of only individual household items; and much more.

The priority is to respect the purity of the body. The dirty skin is a place for appearance of bacteria, leading to blockage of the ducts and glands, resulting in development of pustular and fungal diseases. Especially, a lot of bacteria accumulate on the open areas of the body – hands and under the fingernails. Soap eliminates up to 93% of microorganisms. If you wash your hands before eating, taking food, after using the toilet, then you are much less likely to develop intestinal infections.

It is also useful to douse with cold water in the morning and evening. This daily procedure not only provides a hygienic effect, but also a toning effect to your skin.

Bed sheets and clothes must be clean as well and comply with the season and the weather conditions. Clothing protects the body from environmental factors – low or high temperatures, solar radiation, wind, precipitation, thus warns the organism from colds. Both clothing and shoes should be light, comfortable, not restrict movements, and not disturb the blood circulation and breathing.

Healthy state of the teeth, gums, and oral mucosa play an important role in personal hygiene. This is important for the normal feeding process and prevention of gastrointestinal diseases. Poor oral care leads to dental diseases, such as caries.

Human activity is impossible without the proper rest, quiet and long-lasting sleep. The time of going to bed and waking up should be strictly observed, taking into account the implementation of all morning and evening hygiene procedures without haste.

Don’t wear outdoor shoes at home, at work, as the sole transfers a number of different bacteria and viruses.

Observance of simple rules of personal hygiene contributes to the preservation and health promotion, and prevention of many diseases. It is much easier to prevent a disease than to treat it.
