12 Angry Men Themes

12 Angry Men is the movie that provides the audience with an in-depth review of different stages involved in team development. Basically, each stage is divided to reveal the difficulties and intricacies of uniting people from different walks of life. These men are gathered to decide on the fate of one young man.

The juror has a leadership role when it comes to getting the right order among them. Keep in mind that Henry Fonda is the only juror who understands or cares about a broader scope and objective of a given project. Other men are convinced that the convicted man is guilty because the only wish they have is to close this case as faster as possible. His leadership role is established after sparking an initial conflict in conversations.

Now, other men have to give Fonda an opportunity to speak, and this is when the whole group moves into a storming stage. They find it hard to listen to each other because of the disappointment of initial voting and certain disagreements between all team members. Pay attention to some distractions, including bigotry, baseball games, heat, different prejudices, etc.

Jurors are all anxious to be out of this team so that there is a certain disagreement. It becomes clear that a given case will not be solved fast, and this is what upsets them all. Besides, another major problem that they need to face is that they start discussing their opinions of this case and reveal personal details that influence their views. In this storming stage, they fail to come up with effective ways to handle existing problems so that the room is in complete pandemonium.

This famous movie was produced in the 50s when women had no right to be jurors in courtrooms. There is an opinion that one woman could change the whole setting in this kind of deliberation room. If there was any woman around, 12 angry men could change their attitude at least a bit. Another important fact is that her reaction to evidence could persuade others of whether that young man was guilty or innocent.

For example, if he lost a knife due to having a hole in his pocket, it’s easy to imagine for any mother. This means that her reaction to this type of evidence would have an impact on other men because of her explanations of being a mother and taking care of this event in children’s life. In any case, 12 Angry Men is an interesting and unique movie in its sense so that it should be watched by everyone because it still remains modern and important.
