Moral Limits and Individual Conduct

The desire of the moral subject for self-determination confronts it with the traditionally more status practices of the spiritual life – metaphysical and religious. Both these dispositions conceptually oppose the concept of morality because they define its limits. As a result, they are, in one way or another, define the limits of good and evil.

Morality is a special, cultural and normative form of not biological regulation of human relations. Moral prohibitions, moral limits, and morality evolved within the human race even before the emergence of religion. Sigmund Freud believed that only one dominant feature distinguishes a man from animals – a conscience. There are no animals that experience remorse. A man separated from the natural kingdom, when they realized the regret.

Individual conduct is an understanding of realities of the world by each individual, which translates into system of behavior. Behavior is an implementation of the moral values and moral limits accepted in society: goodness, freedom, justice, mutual aid, and other. Along with the moral behavior exists immoral behavior, based on hatred and injustice. Moral conduct implements a set of moral human aspirations, while the immoral conduct destroys person’s identity.

The basis of moral behavior is an act. Act bears an action that can have positive or negative assessment of the society. The act can be considered an abstaining from action, when a person does not seek to occupy any position in the arisen situation.

Estimates that society gives to human actions are not always objective, and there are no specific criteria for these evaluations. Analysis of individual conduct is based on many factors, including the motives of behavior; the consequences of actions; the reality in which the act occurred; the means to achieve the goal.

Individual behavior is always determined by the level of morality of the individual, which is a system of values and spiritual aspirations of a man. The main factors of individual conduct are moral beliefs and limits of the individual, the level of cultural development and strong-willed attitude. Thus, individual conduct determines the life of the individual and embodies the concept of good and evil, justice and happiness through the system of actions in ordinary everyday situations.

Individual conduct involves on one hand the freedom of choice and human creativity, and on the other hand, it is limited to the scope of the rules and norms accepted in society. This behavior always involves solving the problem of choosing between personal aspirations and demands of society.
