Show business, which today is usually understood as a broad industry of modern popular music, was formed and developed along with technology. Together they went through their evolution media, from vinyl records, audio cassettes to CD-disks. Music manufacturers are rapidly marching with time, always staying in the trend. However, to avoid losses in the market of contemporary pop music was not possible, because every time certain technologies dictated the conditions. One such change was the internet, with the advent of which the music industry has taken a defensive position.
Impact of the internet on the music industry has caused both positive and negative effects.
Among the positive effects is the fact that thanks to the internet and social networks every user today can find any music track, download entire albums, music videos, music concerts, etc. Access to music has become easy and is practically available for everybody, whereas a decade ago, in order to listen to a new album, it was necessary to go to music stores. Moreover, cassettes and CDs of artists and music bands did not always reach the audience.
The internet offers great opportunities to the young performers and bands. Effective advertising on the internet and the ability to distribute new music tracks allow completely unknown bands assert themselves, find new fans, and organize concerts. Today, even without the support of the mass media (TV, radio, newspapers), you can organize a concert easily and quickly by sending out invitations in social networks, where information spreads very quickly.
However there are also negative aspects of the internet on the music industry. One of the negative impacts of the internet is that it affects the state of the modern music industry. Due to the fact that everybody can find and download for free any music online, the number of sold CDs every year decreases with catastrophic speed, making it unprofitable to edition albums.
Another negative aspect is the development of pirate music. Increase in the number of people, who use illegal content, nullified the local music industry efforts to support new talents.
That is why many bands and artists create their own internet resources, attracting a large number of visitors. Thus the albums are distributed directly through the network, and do not reach the shelves of music stores at all.
In connection with these changes the music market is constantly transforming to be able to adequately respond to the challenges of time.
