Motivation in the Workforce

The function of motivation is that it has an impact on the employees of the organization in the form of incentives for efficient labor, social influence, collective and individual incentives. These forms of influence activate operation of the employees and increase the effectiveness of the organization’s management system.

The essence of the motivation, focusing on the system of workers’ needs, is to ensure full and effective use of their labor potential to accelerate the achievement of organizational goals.

It is not possible in the legislative way to change people’s attitudes toward work, as it is a long evolutionary process, but it can be accelerated due to a sober assessment of the specific situation.

Leaders are always aware of the need to encourage people to work for the organization, but they believe that a relatively simple financial reward is enough for that. In some cases, such a policy can be successful, but in essence it is not true.

The workers in modern organizations are usually much more educated and provided than those in the past, so the motives of their work are more complex and difficult to influence. There is no single recipe for development of an effective mechanism of motivation of employees to work. The effectiveness of motivation, as well as other problems in management, is always associated with a particular situation.

On the one hand, motivation is the process of motivation yourself and others to action, involving the ability to meet personal needs in achieving the organization’s objectives.

On the other hand, motivation is the process of conscious choice by a person of a particular type of behavior defined by the combined action of external and internal factors. In the production process motivation allows workers to meet their basic needs by performing job duties.

Remuneration is used to encourage people for an effective work. Remuneration is all that an employee considers valuable. But each person considers different things valuable, and hence, there are different remuneration estimations and its relative value. Internal award is given by the work itself. External award is given not by the work itself, but by the subject of management, being able to reward for the work.

There are several groups of motives of labor, which collectively form a single system. These are motives of meaningfulness of work, its public utility, status motives associated with public recognition of fruitful work, motives of obtaining material goods, as well as the motives, aimed at a certain intensity of the work.

Motivation in the workforce promotes economic, social and moral functions of the organization.
