Effects of Pesticides on Human

The harmful impact of pesticides and their unregulated use have serious environmental consequences for health. Each year, approximately half a million people get exposed to pesticides, causing about 10,000 deaths around the world. According to confirmed reports, in China many people work constantly in the presence of pesticides. This phenomenon is most often surveyed in developing states. Organochlorine insecticides, banned in developed countries, are widely applied in developing countries due to their high availability and cheapness.

High blood levels of pesticide provoke a resistance to insulin, resulting in an inability to process glucose and, accordingly, causing type 2 diabetes. Pesticides are washed away into waters during the rains and get to a table not only with fruits and vegetables, but also with fish. The body cannot get rid of the high concentrations of pesticides, which leads to a development of diabetes. It is proved that people with obesity and an increased content of organochlorine pesticides in the body have a higher risk of developing diabetes type 2, since pesticides accumulate in the fatty tissues.

Some pesticides are accumulated in the cells of the body, causing the development of obesity. This is due to the fact that certain pesticides act as substitutes for the natural hormones, disrupting the body’s ability to regulate proper hormone production. This leads afterwards to the metabolic syndrome and obesity.

Pesticides can be blamed for the occurrence of lymphoma, leukemia, brain cancer, breast cancer, prostate cancer, thyroid cancer, liver cancer, lung cancer, and colon cancer. Prenatal influence of some pesticides increases the risk of lung disease in a child in the future.

The harm from pesticides in the child’s body is manifested in hyperactivity in children or ADHD. This fact has been researched and proven by researchers in Canada and the United States. In America alone, there are about 5 million children with hyperactive syndrome. According to scientists, the main resource of pesticides is vegetables and fruits, which give rise to hyperactivity in children.

The harmful impact of pesticides designed to kill weeds and insects significantly increases the risk of Parkinson’s disease, which affects about 6.5 million people in the world.

Sad but true, that the harm from pesticides leads to serious health disorders, so the use of organic and minimally processed foods, and avoiding contact with pesticides will help reduce the risk of acquiring many diseases.
