The political life of every country is hectic today. The confrontation among the parties never seems to end, and the people are pressured to decide which one they support because they feel like they have to choose. The reality is, regardless of the parties going from one extreme to another, one cannot just abandon politics and decide to not take sides. This often leads to people identifying themselves as republicans or democrats or something else, without fully supporting the party’s political campaign.
But what if we had a one, ultimate and universal political agenda that would fall right in the middle of the political centrum? It does, indeed, seem quite utopian, however, the politicians from all over the world have started thinking about this model a long time ago. Such pattern, where there is no left-wing or right-wing, but rather a balance in between, is often referred to as the “third way”.
The “third way” has been under a lot of critics ever since it has become a thing. Some people believe that it promotes populism, where what the majority believes in would become an ultimate program of the party and eventually the government. Others claim that such an agenda would decrease the reasonability because of being too focused on pursuing everyone’s preferences. Not to mention that there is an idea that the “third way” regardless of being stated as a compromise is still leaning more towards the left-wing because of some liberal views. All critique from the above is argumentative, yet there are a lot of interesting benefits that the “third way” brings as well.
The confrontation between republicans and democrats is extremely raging as for today, to the point where people with different political views can barely tolerate living together. The media, along with all the political campaigns brings the confrontation to the whole new level by prioritizing some people and excluding others depending on whom they support. The “third way” offers an alternative. It unites people with different opinions and views. Basically, it is a model of a symbiosis which is considered to be more or less realistic if only people are willing to give up on the extremes that they support. The sad truth is, as of today people prefer laying in one day and fighting over the covers.
