The Roller Coaster Rides

There are many people who like going to local amusement parts to try out all available rides, and it’s worth mentioning that the roller coaster rides are their most popular and thrilling option. Nowadays, it’s hard to imagine any amusement part without it. What makes it so fun?

Basically, most people agree that it’s all about the very high speeds that make the roller coaster rides so exciting, while others may have different opinions. They claim that the speed has nothing to do with their excitement when taking these rides and the main reason is that they drive faster on highways.

Keep in mind that the thrill of the roller coaster rides actually comes from the feeling of weightlessness and acceleration that they offer. It’s true that they keep thrilling people due to the ability to accelerate them downwards one second and upward the next second, rightward one minute and leftward the next one.

How does this popular and amazing thrill machine work? It’s possible to answer this question in 2 basic ways. First of all, it works through fundamental principles. Second, you should consider a more advanced explanation of its work.

Take into account that the roller coaster rides involves a lot of physics. They start with chains and motors that exert the force on their train necessary to lift it to the top. Once cars are lifted to the top, gravity starts taking over so that the rest of these rides work on the so-called energy transformation. Don’t forget that there is no engine or motor that takes such trains around the track because the law of physics acts as it.

At the very top, cars have a lot of potential energy as they are elevated quite high above the ground. This kind of energy depends on the height and mass of objects. As cars are released, they start losing a lot of potential energy while gaining the kinetic one. The latter energy depends on the mass and speed of objects. Besides, when cars lose their speed, they lose their kinetic energy, but they don’t stop due to the inertia that keeps them moving.

This means that cars may slow down when approaching new hills, but inertia moves them forward. When they go through loops, the force of gravity, dissipative, and normal forces act on them. Finally, the roller coaster rides seem to never go out of fashion. If you want to give them a try, you should go to any amusement part and experience the thrill that they offer, and you won’t regret making this choice.
