One Might Call Aeneas a Man Who Is Behind Scenes

Homer rarely talked about this unsung hero, though he was the 2nd one in command for the Trojans. When it comes to the childhood of Aeneas, it was quite different than the one of most kids of his age. The main reason is that he didn’t have any dominant mother figure so that he had to learn crucial beliefs and values in his life from the father, a Trojan prince called Anchises.

Don’t forget that Aeneas had a real fighting machine for his father and he grew to be one too. The fact that he is not similar to Anchises is clearly shown via his participation in the war. After the fall of the Trojans in it, his destiny awaits for him.

Another important fact that should be remembered is that Aeneas was born in quite a wealthy family in Troy. He is the son of a Trojan prince so that he didn’t need to worry about food, home, or other necessities. Besides, he lived in a real Trojan palace until a moment when a stable home couldn’t be relied on.

When Aeneas wasn’t at his home, he travelled a lot with his father and stayed in rich houses along their way. Sometimes, they had to stay in barracks if they needed to go to army sites. His father had to raise him with the help of nannies or nurses because it’s proper for wealthy men not to simply raise a child on his own. All people knew that the real mother of Aeneas was Aphrodite so that he was denied any dominant mother figure since his birth.

He started his childhood not like many other kids of his age. As you already know, he travelled a lot with his father to learn more about effective fighting tactics and wars. Besides, tutors educated Aeneas during his visits home because all rich boys had to be educated at their young age. He was the only child and heir to a thrown so that it’s no wonder he started to spoil a bit. However, he rarely got to relish in the good fortune of his wealthy family as he was always working with the father.

In summary, Aeneas is represented as a man who is familiar with duties and piety and he is illustrated as an interesting character and a hero. Keep in mind that piety is a human emotion and duty towards the country, family, and gods. This means that Aeneas always does his best to fulfill the main duties to his family members, gods, etc. This is what keeps him going through his multiple challenges and journeys, even when something goes wrong. Take into account that this important characteristic makes Aeneas stronger so that he doesn’t hesitate to make personal sacrifices and never fails to fulfill his duties.
