The Poetry of William Blake

The main focus of this poet is on different inner states. Basically, the drama of his later books is called a divided cliché or psychomachia. In his imaginary world, people were integrated once, but they suffered falling when reasoning dominated other important faculties. His poetry is well-known for developing the so-called psyche.

Pay attention to contraries when reading the poems of William Blake, as this is what can provide you with a certain dialectical basis for regenerating this psyche. People should understand contraries as those mental or psychic opposites that exist in their regenerated or redeemed state of unbounded perception and unlimited energy. In his poetry, Blake succeeded to depict the entire progress of regenerating based on different conflicts between contraries. Once they are accepted, progress is inevitable, energy is created, and reintegration takes place.

Another interesting fact about the poetry of William Blake is that his paradisiacal man differs from the fallen one only in the fact that he knows divinity. This means that paradisiacal men perceive passions, imagination, reasoning, and senses. For example, the imagination in their redeemed state is called Urthona, and its basic purpose is to represent that all redeemed men should have their unbounded and fourfold vision, which is not bound by any particulars.

As a poet, William Blake creates the external world with a specific fourfold vision, and contraries still remain a major concern that can’t be denied and its theory can’t be altered. What about such themes as innocence and experience? They are also reflected in the poetry of William Blake because his concern with their early states is associated with a religious apocalypse. It involves a certain progression from innocence to the experience and accepting their contraries, and this is what leads to the destruction of false perceptions.

In conclusion, the poet intuits the divinity of people through the faculty of his imagination, just like the falseness of the society and laws based on specific societal behaviors. Blake also perceives the spiritual essence of people and displays them in a spiritual meaning rather than in a rational brand. There are many other themes discussed and touched in his poetry, including the archetypal ones, human imagining, etc. They all are worth readers’ attention because of their literary legacy and impact so that you should become familiar with his poems.
