The Life of Nikita Khrushchev

Nikita Khrushchev was born in 1894 in the village Kalinovka in Kursk province. In 1908, his family moved to Yuzovka. At 12, Khrushchev began to work in the factories and mines of the Donbass.

In 1918, Khrushchev was accepted the Bolshevik Party. He participated in the Civil War.

In 1922, Khrushchev returned to Yuzovka, where he studied at Donetsk College and where he became party secretary in College.

In 1929, he went to study at the Industrial Academy in Moscow, where he was elected Secretary of the Party Committee.

In 1938, Khrushchev became the first secretary of the Communist Party (Bolsheviks) of Ukraine and a candidate member of the Politburo, and a year later a member of the Politburo of the CPSU. He proved himself as a ruthless fighter against enemies of the people.

During the Second World War, Khrushchev was a member of the military councils. He was one of those responsible for the catastrophic environments by the Red Army near Kiev and at Kharkov fully supporting Stalin’s point of view. He finished the war with the rank of lieutenant-general because of the support of all of Stalin’s ideas.

In the period from 1944 until 1947 he served as Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Ukrainian SSR, and then was re-elected as the first secretary of the Communist Party (Bolsheviks) of Ukraine.

In June 1953, after the death of Joseph Stalin, he was one of the main initiators of the bias from all posts and the arrest of Lavrenty Beria. In September 1953, Khrushchev was elected First Secretary of the Central Committee. From 1958, he was Chairman of the USSR Council of Ministers until 1964. The October plenum of the Central Committee, organized in the absence of Khrushchev, who was on vacation, freed him from the party and government positions on health grounds. After that Nikita Khrushchev was under virtual house arrest. He died on September 11, 1971.

Following the resignation of Khrushchev, his name was banned for more than 20 years. During the restructuring period discussions about Khrushchev were again possible. His role as a precursor of restructuring was emphasized, however, his role in repressions were also mentioned, as well as negative aspects of his leadership. The only case of perpetuating Khrushchev is still the appropriation of his name to the square in Grozny in 1991. During the life of Khrushchev, his name was used to call a city of builders of Kremenchug HPP (Kirovohrad region of Ukraine) that after his resignation was renamed in Kremges and then in Svitlovodsk.
