This is how I remember you Marilyn

A dazzling shiner of Marilyn Monroe is brightening over the 20th-century sky. We are in the millenniums now, yet the rays of her lonely star are still reaching us. People keep in memory her shining smile, blond hair and delicate figure. Is all that they remember? There is definitely something exceptional about her personality that immortalized and made her the icon for a great many people.

Childlike manners, undeniable talent, stunning looks, freaky behaviour, incredible charisma and more and more astonishing sides of her personality make her much-loved woman of all the time. Her life turned fragile, tragic but fabulously bright. Monroe looked sex appealing and innocent in equal measure. She embodied strength and weakness, passion and coolness, short temper and tenderness. She brought a kind of revolution to Hollywood, won all hearts from big-league politicians and public leaders to ordinary housewives. Playwrights and directors wanted her to star in their movies. Mass media hunted for her elsewhere she was. She started the era of blond, slim and sexy girls.

Surely, many of her close friends and colleagues have asked themselves if she was genuinely happy. Did she behave like she was or simply wore the mask? Even without taking a sharp look at the story of her life you can notice a tune of loneliness in her voice or a subtle shade of solitude in her radiant eyes. This is the mystery that still bothers us.

After she died, the community fell apart speculating whether she was murdered or committed a suicide. Strange and yet true, Marilyn often suffered from psychological breakdowns. She was addicted to alcohol and drugs. What was the cause of her dramatic change? There are dozens of suppositions, but do they still matter? Though, it is extremely regrettable that she passed away at the pinnacle of the career. The feeling of grievous loss doesn’t give peace to those who adore her.

Once I came across a hear-touching poem by a Nicaraguan poet Ernesto Cardenal Prayer for Marilyn Monroe. This is the pray for her to find mercy in the heaven. Reading it you keep your eyes open how very true Ernesto depicts the drama of her life. For instance, he says that she was avid for love but the society gave her tranquillizers, instead. He contrasts her life on the top notch of society to the life in a miserable apartment where she returned after VIP parties and noisy yacht voyages. The symbol of her loneliness is an unanswered call. The poet humbly asks the Lord to pick up the receiver.
