Suppression of Individual’s Creativity

In a modern society, in various sectors of professional activity creativity emerges as one of the leading factors in the success of a person.

Currently, there are many approaches, trends and theories of creativity due to the fact that there is no single and explicit definition of the notion of creativity.

The word ‘creativity’ comes from the Latin ‘creare’, which means produce and create. The concept of creativity is inseparably linked with the creativity itself, creative activities that generate something qualitatively new. According to Maslow, creativity is a creative direction of thinking, innately inherent in all, but the one that gets lost under the influence of the environment.

The development of creativity in humans is mainly determined by the environment, in which a person evolved and how this environment has contributed to the development of a person’s creativity, how it supported and developed personality. The development of creativity is a subjective process, which is quite profound.

The traditional system of education is the transmission of information from a teacher to a student. The dogmatic type of teaching has been formed for years in high schools, where its product is formal knowledge.

Traditional training system is not always able to develop the creativity of the individual, because it is based on information storage and accumulation of facts. Most often in everyday life, there is suppression of creative personality traits. Therefore, the development of creativity is possible only in specially organized environment. You must introduce special tasks into the learning process, which allows developing creative thinking, creativity, and use these abilities in the future.

The development of creativity in each student is an individual process. The backbone factor in the development of creativity is the humanization of education. It is believed that originally all people are of creative. But the influence of the environment, in which they grow and study, the presence of many bans, and social patterns contribute to blocking creativity. Therefore it is necessary to give everybody a positive impetus for the development of creativity, it is necessary to liberate people from the psychological clips.

Developing creative thinking means shaping and improving the mental operations: analysis, synthesis, comparison, classification, planning, abstraction, as well as possessing such characteristics of thinking as criticality, depth, flexibility, latitude, speed, and variability. It also helps develop imagination and enjoy knowledge of different content.
