Perhaps the greatest invention of the nineties of the past century is the Internet. This influential development opened the broadest doors toward the information flow to people worldwide. This was an access to never before imagined volumes of information and knowledge. Regardless age, gender and specialization, everyone finds what he needs including chat rooms, online games, shopping malls, audio and video libraries, pornography, etc. All this is only a finite portion of what the internet gives a man.
However, let us not be cheated by only the positive effect of the Internet. Beyond any words, it has quite many negative sides, either. Despite the fact some content provided on the Internet is truly beneficial for nowadays' society, there is a large portion that encourages and propagandizes extremely negative contributions to our lives. For instance, the vocation of drug or alcohol usage targeted to the inexperienced youth quite often achieves its purpose. Definitely, governments try to regulate and ban websites advocating drug, alcohol or cigarette use, yet numerous new ones are designed every day turning this into an endless battle where the only victims are naive or stressed young people.
Another major negative impact of the Internet on people is called "The Internet Addiction"! This is a real disease that requires physiological treatment. It is counted that over fifteen million people in America alone are suffering from this addiction. They always behave as if being on the Internet and hardly differentiate the real world from the virtual one. Such people become highly distracted, disorientated, emotionless and quite often resemble brainwashed "zombies" !
Absence of Physical Activity
Young people of the 1990' can remember how many children there were playing in the parks or even yards. With the appearance of the Internet, this number catastrophically lowered. Online games came to substitute physical ones, whilst the latter was so healthy. This phenomenon brought about common obesity as well as ubiquitous eyesight problems.
With the invention of the Internet, a thoroughly new level of crimes arose. Cyber crimes have become so common today, that one does not get frustrated or surprised finding out his online wallet was robbed or his social web page broken. The reason is that we hold too much information on ourselves in the network filled with numerous naughty minds!
