The Employee Motivation

Long ago mankind learned (and the community leaders put it into practice) how to influence a group of people united by one purpose. “Carrot and stick” was one of the oldest motivational techniques. Myths and tales of ancient worlds are full of motivational components of human development.

After scientists had classified human needs as primary (physiological) and secondary (social), the motivation of a person to fulfill his tasks became an important part of his activity. The genetic code of a human being demands satisfaction of his needs not only at his physiological level but his "spiritual" desires for success, recognition, fame, power.

With the development of of social organization the material stimulants became more effective and a necessity of motivational approaches on psychological basis appeared.

From a psychological point of view, motivation is a set of actions which are aimed at meeting the needs of people. The development of meaningful motivational theories is based on different psychological approaches. Businesses which involve a number of hired employees create an environment where employees have the feeling that using the proposed model of behavior that lead to the achievement of business goals, enable them to meet their own needs.

As all the employees are different and have their own individual needs and value corporate’s rewards differently. Managers need to correlate the proposed remuneration to the needs of subordinate staff. In addition to the common motivation for operating effectively, it must be tied to specific outcomes employees will have as a reward for the qualitative work and a deprivation of a reward if his work does not meet the requirements. Employees should be set to high but achievable intense performance. The heads of all ranks work with the subordinate staff and demonstrate the possibility to obtain their results putting maximum effort. When this job is done well, the workers do not doubt the validity of the established award and it does not affect the quality of their performance. If efficiency is reduced and a negative attitude to work occurs, the manager should demonstrate the employees the difference if they overcome the problems.

A variety of motivational systems are applied and developed today. But the calculation of the employee's remuneration is necessarily tied to the results of his work. Each employee can trace changes of his own income and to determine its dependence on the quality of his work at certain periods.
