In the early 20-th of the last century was started a new era – first passenger air liners took off the ground and set up a new traveling abilities. Till 1940 it was more exotic and really dangerous escapade – those liners were far too from perfect by technical conditions. The planes were too large and heavy and kerosene propped engines had too low power rates to correspond all unpredictable weather conditions. Plus, there were poor equipment for navigation and radio connection. The takeoff and landing were really risky actions at any time.
After a WW2 the aviation took a great step ahead – new developed military far range bombers allowed to implement new technical decisions in civil planes. To the end of 50s were developed many commercial companies at the US and all around the world. They made a lot of local and even intercontinental flights. And it became a reason of business rivalry which had some tragic consequences.
The regulations for passenger air travel were weak at those times and attempts of company bosses to reach maximum value by cheapening the service of airplanes had some sad results. The series of crashes in late 60s were fatal to some smaller air companies and had many precedents at court, especially at US. Later, the two famous air planes, such as Concord and soviet Tu-144 implemented a new jet engines, which meant more speed and abilities, but more responsibility as well. On the first step, the engines were more dangerous due to fire safety problems. And the planer of jet plane had to correspond with new speeds.
For every time period we can split up the air crashes into two categories – the technical issues and the human factor that mixes up sometimes with previous part. The pilot or air traffic control mistakes had a really costly to pay off. On the other side, the any time of structural failures can be fatal to an aircraft and its passengers. The car or a train can stop. The airliner has to land first.
The passenger air travel is a very complex and responsible business. And it’s a high competitive segment of market with the frontline technologies involved. The leading companies must prepare their planes for the next flight and be on 100% assured that the technical state is absolutely perfect. However, even consisted cooperation of experienced professionals doesn’t give up a perfect state in the air. But they work really hard and the statistics from year to year is the best prove that air travel becomes safer all over the world.
