I've read a short story called The Sniper. It's a story about 2 brothers attempted to kill each other without understanding the identities because of a civil war in Ireland. The story features an irony ending that they attempted to kill each other urgently, however, the one they had been hoping to kill is the blood sibling. In the same way, Paul attempted to save his enemy after he has stabbed a sword into the one's entire body. The one thing they know is that they were fighting and murdering their enemies to the peaceful life. They did not even understand each other and they've done nothing wrong. Paul was angry when he saw that the guy's photo of his loved ones. People were suffering from the war. Nobody wants the war. ``` A mountain in Germany cannot offend a hill in France. Or a river, or a wood, or a field of wheat. ''' (Pg 175) Who are they fighting for? Why are they fighting? Soldiers were fighting for their families, their comrades, as well as their own families. Those who have never been into the front wouldn't know the terror of this war. They could be friends if there wasn't any war. The only reason to cause the war would be to gain benefits for all those people at the very top. Both of those stories tell that there is actually no winner. In The Sniper, 1 person killed his brother. He won, but after he killed his brother, then he dropped. Similarly, France won at WWI; whereas, they had received so lots of sadness. The terror of this war threats everybody. The nationalistic elders in the publication pushed the youth to the war. Many of young soldiers joined the war after they graduated from college. The instructor didn't tell them the truth, and the youth haven't thought about how dreadful the war had been.
