Experience in Teaching If asked to name the teachers who have had the greatest positive impact on people, we tend to name those who have been hot, energetic, passionate, organized, impartial, and competent in their area. Professional teachers use all of these traits, and, as the text states, are "seasoned" and "successful" and have "developed alternatives for common classroom problems" (Woolfolk, 2001). I chose to interview my fourth grade teacher, Mr. Mendez, since he not only shows expertise in teaching, but also has created a fun and proactive learning environment, I hope to emulate in my classroom. To be able to teach effectively, the instructor needs a strong knowledge base of the material (Woolfolk, 2001). Mr. Mendez feels convinced teaching all regions of the program. A teacher who doesn't feel comfortable in their ability presenting a specific aspect of this material would most likely have difficulty relating the material to children. Specializing in a topic isn't only important for innovative knowledge base, but for practicality too. Mr. Mendez noted that using different teachers specializing (and teaching) in different areas of the program saves time in lesson preparation: students visit another classroom for mathematics, for example. This arrangement also offers him an opportunity to meet with other pupils. Professional teachers will also be instrumental in motivating all pupils to understand (Woolfolk, 2001). When a student lacks motivation to understand or perform work, these experts scout out ways to promote learning.
