Ray Bradbury's novel Fahrenheit 451 speculates on another society in which there is absolutely no real knowledge, simply a façade of lies because there are no testaments of truth, books. This reserve shares a plot very much like this of the Warner Brothers' blockbuster, Matrix, where the human race is held in the shadow of the reality by being placed into a virtual reality. In both whole tales a destroyed civilization has been suppressed by an evil innovator. Also, in both these works have the average man rise from the ashes of his previous life and be instruments in the changing of just how life is. Morpheus may be the head of the light, as is usually Faber, Beatty may be the evil which replicates himself onto others to maintain them in ignorance, exactly like Agent Smith replicates himself actually.
