In the book The Aeneid we have an instance of a marriage that is full of risk leaving us with hardly any evidence of reward. There are rewards and dangers which come with marriage, it is unfortunate but a connection between a knight is not full of much reward. It's different then the benefits and risks that a couple that are not of warrior or knight status could have. The relationship between Aeneas and Dido is a good example of a marriage and will demonstrate many of the rewards and risks which come along with union. Aeneas and Dido had a connection with many holes in it, meaning it was not so stable. The love for Aeneas which Dido has is in reality increasing with the regret stories she hears. She's vowed to not re-marry because the passing of her husband Sychaeus. Love is a really powerful power; you cannot control it: as we see what occurs to Dido. Anna, her sister, also claims that by devoting Aeneas she'll increase the potency of Carthage from the warriors that follow him. Dido is confused and in love with Aeneas, which allows the city to fall apart. This is the first sign that we see that there'll be many obstacles involved in the connection of Aeneas and Dido. This is certainly a danger that comes along with love. Love is so strong it can stop a city from functioning properly from the Aeneid. As well as quitting an army, which it does to Aeneas. His love for Dido induces his guys to get off monitor and delaying their birth to Italy. Once again we are seeing another...
