World War II started a new chapter in the lives of Depression-weary Americans. The United States of America had an odd significance in the war, it was spared the physical destruction that had happened throughout the world. Americans on the home front failed to find the fighting and brutality as other nations experienced it. However, the changes and events to the home front because of the World War changed America. One of the maximum conversions was the American girl. Girls across the country were transformed from the typical home wife into a individual with a voice and most importantly a goal. For the first time girls were operating in the sectors of America. As fathers and husbands, brothers and sons sent out to fight in Europe and the Pacific, countless women marched into offices, factories, and military bases to function in paying jobs and in roles reserved for men in peacetime. Girls were making a living that wasn't comparable to anything they had seen before. They were determined on themselves; for after they can encourage the household. Most of the job in industry was related to this war, such as radios for planes and cubes for firearms. Peggy Terry, a young girl who worked at a shell-loading plant in Kentucky, tells of the money that was made from industrial function (108). ВЂњWe made a fantastic sum of thirty dollars weekly.
