Picture you are in a darkened theater and on stage will be the actors. Behind the actors you can view the scenery. Down before the stage, in what's called the pit, can be an orchestra and a conductor. As the orchestra performs, the actors on stage usually do not speak their lines they are sung by them! Opera is the mixture of music and drama. Like drama, opera embraces the whole spectral range of theatrical elements: dialogue, acting, costumes, action and scenery, but it may be the sum of most these elements, coupled with music, which defines the innovative art form called opera. Operatic dramas are serious usually, but there are many comic operas and funny scenes in tragic operas. The music is normally complicated and difficult to sing well. Only the most skillful singers are designed for it. The cast is normally made up of primary individuals (the soloists) and a chorus (several singers who become a crowd of individuals involved in the actions of the plot). Some operas have scenes where dancing is conducted by a little ballet group. Operas generally start with an overture - an intro performed by the orchestra by itself. Once the curtain rises, the chorus and soloists sing throughout the majority of the drama. Arias (songs sung by soloists) will be the important points within an opera. Within an aria, a personality sings about their feelings and thoughts, or about what they're likely to do. Between arias, the soloists may sing back and fourth to one another in a kind of musical discussion called recitatives. Besides singing arias, soloists join together to sing duets often, trios, quartets, quintets, or sextets at various points in the opera. The chorus usually has many songs to sing, either by itself or with the soloists. The music follows the feeling and actions of the plot. Operas are often performed in special buildings called opera houses. The dances are created by a choreographer, and the chorus master rehearses the singers. The conductor qualified prospects the whole opera performance from their place in the pit. The soloists, chorus associates and the dancers stick to the directions of the conductor. The historic Greeks blended drama and music, today created in Italy in the late 1500s but opera as we realize it. At first, the music was used for history mainly.
