One song which was of importance for me considering coming to Maryland would be "Summertime Sadness" from Lana Del Ray. The whole album where the song comes out of is one of my personal all time favorites. I remember watching her for the first time on Saturday Night Live where she used to be the musical guest. She was doing her favorite single "Video Games" off of her album Born to Die. Her performance wasn't theatrical whatsoever; actually it was really minimalistic. The performance was supposed to be just about the tune instead of specifically regarding her showmanship. The critics gave her negative testimonials about her lack of vigor and also the way the performance was lacking emotion. It just made me more intrigued in her songs. I downloaded her album shortly then and did not really get around to listen to it before the start of the summer going to my freshmen year in Maryland. I'd be lying if I didn't mention I had a huge crush on her own, which also added to my liking of her songs. 1 particular song on the record that was most significant to me personally was "Summertime Sadness". The song portrayed my feelings of leaving home for school and beginning a brand new chapter in my life. The song's genre are also subgenres of Rock which have inspirations to bands/producers Dr. Warfield has educated our course. Her song is all about her feelings of sadness that come across the ending summer; The main theme is about Lana and her summertime Love having to part ways by summers end and her emotions of when that previous encounter occurs. Summer romances are always short and fun, but ending the summer dating is always a bit saddening and depressing.
