Ezra Pound's Building Ideas Frequently called "the poet's poet," because of his profound impact on 20th century writing in English, American poet and writer, Pound, thought that poetry was the greatest of the arts. You never would have thought that a author and optimist such as Ezra Pound would have been created in Hailey, Idaho at 1885. In the sound of his job you had thing he was definitely one of these European Imagist. In 1908, after educating college for a couple of years, Pound traveled abroad to Spain, Italy, and London. He followed the teachings of Ernest Fenellosa and became very intrigued by Japanese and Chinese poetry. The literary figure who has experienced the most substantial effect on modern idea is without a doubt Ezra Loomis Pound. В  In The Norton Anthology of Modern Poetry (1988), he is described in the following way: "The most outstanding career in contemporary poetry has unchallengingly been that of Ezra Pound. В It was he more than anyone who made poets write modern poetry, editors release it, and subscribers read it" (374) One poem that stood out for me was Pound's work "A Virginal." Launched in 1912, this is a fantastic instance of Pound's skillful and ancient growing sonnets. It is very catching how Pound unlocks the sonnet with fantastic emotion, "No, no more speaking in pretense of a lover discarding a woman. In the concluding sestet Pound yields to the first two stressed syllable, "No, no," that a dismissal of his discarded love, and the beginning of his reason for abandoning the allure of traditional verse.
