When the war started men had to leave their own families and jobs behind. World War I was a complete war since all of the world's assets had to be utilized and the whole state's population was included. Anyone that had the ability to work needed to get the job done. The women had to take up tasks and moved through a lot changes in order to support their families during the war. World War I gave girls with the opportunity to have a significant part in the victory of the war which had an effect them and changed the lives of all women forever. Women weren't only separated by class, but also with their sex. No girl was equivalent to a man and did not matter how rich or poor they were. They weren't equal for men. Women couldn't vote own business or property and weren't allowed to have custody of the children unless they had permission from their husband first. Women's roles changed instantly due to the war. They needed to pick up all the jobs that the men had no option but to leave behind. They have been expected to operate and care for their houses and kids too. Working outside the house was a struggle for these women although the girls probably appreciated having the ability to provide for their families.
