In today’s period, both in Africa and around the global globe, the role of women across differing cultures show a variety of variations and similarities. Many countries around the global world have embraced women’s equalities, while some have not. As we turn to the spot of the Nile, we turn to Egypt. Today, Egyptian women may hold different roles or they could be similar as compared to other cultures. When we look back to the ancient times of Egypt, we could be surprised that the roles of women were quite different in comparison with other cultures of this time. “When Herodotus visited historic Egypt and the finish of the dynastic period, he was intrigued nothing you've seen prior seeing females appearing to be free of charge as their males folk” (Tyldesley 1994). From the common Cleopatra, to Queen Hapshepsut, females have played significant functions in Old Egypt. Four queens are documented as having ruled within their own right (Hawass). It had been the most famous woman pharaoh Hapshepsut and her reign that spanned among Egypt’s most prosperous intervals (Williams). Women kept titles suggesting responsibility and independence. A number of these women also owned land and held secular positions (Ikram). Increasing proof confirms through textual and archaeological results that the feminine component was essential to the survival of the king (Tyldesley 2006). For the intended purpose of this paper, I will elaborate briefly of the political history of ladies in ancient Egypt, but particularly concentrate on Queen Hapshepsut and her reign.
