"A Prayer for My Daughter" is a poem written by William Butler Yeats at 1919. This poem is really a prayer-like poem. And it tells about the poet's thoughts about his daughter who's sleeping in exactly the identical moment while the poem has been told. Through the poem Yeats reveals the way he needs his kid's future to be. This essay will examine the poem in 3 sections: 1- What exactly does this poem mean? , two- The Exotic apparatus, vision, rhyming, figures of speech, utilized from the poem and disposition, diction, language, and the structure of this poem, 3- An essay at a feminist point of view titled "What does the poet want his daughter to become?" . 1-WHAT DOES THIS POEM MEAN? The poet is observing his infant daughter sleep. In the very first stanza he starts with explaining the setting of this poem. It is stormy out, and there is a type of dark and gloomy weather plus he prays for her. And he says that he has gloom within his mind and we will know that what gloom is that in his own mind. In the next stanza the poet explains the things while he was praying for his daughter. He walks for an hour and finds that the "sea-wind scream upon the tower", "beneath the arches of the bridge", "in the elms above the flooded stream." They likely represent the dreaming of all the individual beings and they're decisive. They're all about the present things and they prevent people from thinking about the future occasions. The following four lines of the next stanza clearly explain this notion: "Imagining in excited reverie That the future years had come, Dancing to a frenzied drum, Out of the murderous innocence of the sea."
