One Bomb, Four Lives, Many developments In the calendar year 1963, several events took place within this year from blacks boycotting Boston buses into the assassination of JFK. But, that isn't what is going to be elaborated within this informative article. It is going to be about the 16th Street Church bombing in Birmingham, Alabama (Simkin). There are a lot of things that a reader may not know, unless that reader is a historian or has looked up this subject before. In 1963 a neighborhood black church has been about to get their 11:00 a.m. service on Sunday, September 15 (Trueman). In the women's area of the church are four African American women, Denise McNair (11), Addie Mae Collins (14), Carole Robertson (14) and Cynthia Wesley (14), that were getting prepared for the ceremony while at the same time talking about their first day of school (Simkin), even until their whole world will be transformed and they would not know it. The city of Birmingham was also known as "Bombingham" since each of the bombings which had gone on from the year 1963. The good thing was no one had been hurt in the bombings. Each of the targets which were struck were owned by African Americans. The bombers targeted black houses, black companies, black churches and perhaps even black colleges. All of these targets were presumed to cripple the will of these black individuals rather it simply strengthened their motion. The most important area that individuals would conduct their civil rights actions was the 16th road Baptist Church (Trueman). The 16th road Baptist Church has been the largest black church in Birmingham, Alabama (Simkin). It hosted some of the most historical figures during each of the Civil Rights movement such as Thurgood Marshall, W.E.B. DuBois, and later Hillary Clinton are there in addition to junior senator in Illinois and prospective president Barack Ob...
