Kinuta, which can be known as The Fulling Block, is a noh drama written by Zeami. The characters, that appear in this drama, are: '' The Husband, a local squire (waki), His Sword-bearer (wakizure), A maid, Yugiri (tsure), The Wife (maeshite), A Manservant (Fig), and The Spirit of the spouse, after her death (nochijite). The Jo, or even introduction of this play, begins with the very first line of the Husband (waki), since it establishes the foundation of this play and also presents the shite, or so the Wife: "You have before you a squire from Ashiya at Kyushu. Presently I am staying in Miyako, at which I have a litigation of mine to care for. Although I had not thought I'd be in Miyako long, this year is already my third, and I am quite worried about my spouse and my residence. The Husband then sends Yugiri, the maid; to Ashiya to declare that he would definitely be home at the end of the year. The Jo comes to a conclusion since the maid arrives at Ashiya to provide the information for the Wife. Over the Jo, the problem of the drama is gradually unveiled and receives a much better grasp from the Ha, in which the Wife (shite) enters and also recites a poem: "Snug beneath mandarin duck covers, lovers still grieve that they need to part; fish of the heavy, pillowed side by side, they nevertheless fear that the sundering waves.
