Imperial Rome, through the initial century A.D. was growing it's boundaries with the addition of new territories. They extended into northern European countries and Britain and conquered or attemptedto conquer various types of individuals. Predicated on my reading of Tacitus' The Agricola and The Germania, I've knowledge of the entire life and customs of the Britons, subject of the Agricola, and the Germans, subject of the Germania. This of training course being the Romans, and more particularly Tacitus, ' observation and view of the groups of people. The customs of the Britons differed from that of the Romans. Britain was the biggest of the islands recognized to the Romans, who considered Britons as barbarians. The physical features of the Britons varied, suggesting that they blended with the various peoples surrounding them, including the Gauls. With whom they shared a common vocabulary and spiritual beliefs. Tacitus speaks of the Britons Army and fighting design. The Britons power is within their infantry, and their weakness is based on their insufficient cooperation. They fight as separate states rather than uniting as one against a common enemy, and therefore they are often conquered. The Romans thought that Britain was worth conquering since it yields gold, silver and other metals and pearls in the seas. The Britons had been submissive following becoming conquered rather, in that these were obedient to the brand new leaders. Even so, they dreaded slavery and always set up a fight to avoid it. Unlike the Romans, the Britons didn't view women as inferior, but instead allowed them to carry high ranks and offices in society, government, and the military.
